About Us

Rocky Mount, North Carolina

Statement furniture, built to order.

Side Effect Studio is an independent furniture shop at 1800 Stone Rose Dr in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. We offer sculptural solid wood furniture for homes that love to host — TV consoles, live edge record stands, carved lounge chairs, open-base coffee tables, bar cabinets and floating vanities — built to order and shipped free across the United States.

About the name

A good piece of furniture has a side effect: people notice it, sit in it, run a hand along it and ask where it came from. That is the kind of furniture we like to offer.

We are a furniture studio only. We are not a nightclub, bar or event venue, and we are not affiliated with any business that uses a similar name.

Why sculptural and why solid wood

Flowing bases, carved backs and live edges turn everyday pieces — a TV console, a side table, a bench — into something that anchors a room.

Solid hardwood makes those shapes last. It can be re-oiled and lightly repaired rather than replaced, so a statement piece stays a statement for years.

What we build
